The Brian Gray Scholarship program provides up to four scholarships, valued at $15,000 each, to support students in finance, economics, actuarial science, econometrics, statistics or related disciplines, who intend to focus full-time on their studies and research. Honours year and PhD students studying a topic of relevance to prudential supervision and are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident are eligible to apply. 

Eligible subject areas include:

  • Banking;
  • General Insurance;
  • Life Insurance;
  • Private Health Insurance;
  • Superannuation;
  • Econometrics; and
  • Statistics,

particularly the prudential supervision and financial soundness of regulated industries or the use of APRA’s statistical publications.

The research paper may be the students’ honours or post-graduate thesis or project. 

Students can apply online via APRA’s website at www.apra.gov.au providing details of their academic performance, work experience and extra-curricular activities as well as an outline of their proposed research and its relevance to APRA.
