The Banking and Finance Oath are pleased to announce the launch of The BFO Young Ambassadors Program.
The BFO (bfo.org) is an initiative founded by industry leaders and affiliated with The Ethics Centre. The Oath contains a set of commitments that individuals can adopt and apply as personal principles in their work. In recognition of the fact that the students of today are the future leaders of the industry The BFO Board, Chaired by Stephen Dunne (CEO of AMP Capital) and The BFO Policy Council, Chaired by Simon McKeon (Executive Chairman of Macquarie) wish to create a closer alliance with universities and students. Specifically, The BFO Young Ambassadors will have the following opportunities:
- Participation in a 12-month program
- A personal tour of the office of a Bank/Financial Institution
- An invitation to a BFO like-minded Lunch, hosted by an industry leader with senior banking executives in attendance
- A private conversation with an Industry ‘Elder’, a respected retired member of the banking and finance industry
- Free tickets to BFO events for Ambassadors and one friend
- Participation in a 1-day ‘Vision Workshop’ where the Ambassadors work together to develop a concept
- The opportunity to present to the BFO Board and Policy Council
The BFO Young Ambassadors will be expected to champion The Oath at their universities and in their own networks, this will include willingness to speak at events and forums.
Selection Criteria
We are seeking a combination of qualities in our Ambassadors; most important is a commitment to an ethical and just society. Specifically a BFO Young Ambassador should:
- Be in their penultimate or final year of study
- Be thoughtful and known for their good judgement
- Have actively pursued leadership opportunities
- Have an interest in ethics
- Intend to work in the banking and finance industry
- Be a signatory of The Oath (Note a student rate of $10 is available at thebfo.org)
Application Process
Interested applicants are required to complete The BFO Youth Ambassadors Application Form. The Application Form covers the following:
- Personal contact details
- Details of involvement in community or social movements
- Experience and skills that demonstrate ethical leadership
- 250-300 words on 'what inspired you to apply to be a BFO Youth Ambassador?'
- A concise Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages)

Selection
