Why choose enterprise & entrepreneurship?

A pathway to business and/or employment

The workforce, like school, does not engage and/or suit every young person. Identifying alternative pathways and programs that provide inspiration and raise the aspiration of young people is a worthwhile endeavor. There is significant information, discussion and research which supports the strategy that teaching young people to create wealth of their own is an effective way to create community wealth, to reduce youth unemployment and alleviate reliance on income support (welfare).

Business and self-employment is a legitimate, achievable and realistic career pathway with the right information, support and learning experiences. Effective entrepreneurial and enterprise education can dispel the myth that business success is based only on luck and something that happens to others. While preparing young people to succeed in education and life, providing opportunity to also learn about enterprise, business and entrepreneurship in the 21st Century, has the potential to transform their futures.

Additionally, through effective enterprise education, young people learn highly transferable skills (e.g. organisational skills, team work, time/money management, and interpersonal skills), all of which greatly expand their career options. (Source: Amy Rosen, Forbes 2011, 2013).
