Interested in developing your ability to lead?

Are you community minded?

We know that not everyone wants to be the President of the local committee, but local projects, groups and committees need people to put their hand up and run events, develop new ideas and make things happen in their local neighbourhood. It is about taking action to make where you live a better place.

Whether you consider yourself a natural leader or a reluctant one, leadership comprises a set of abilities that can be learnt. Our Adelaide Community Leaders Program will give you an edge in your involvement in local community life and enable you to gain the skills and confidence to make things happen in your community.

Adelaide Community Leaders Program is for people who are passionate about their community and would benefit from developing their leadership skills. This program will show you how to lead a community group, inspire others, create change, think strategically, manage a project, make sound decisions and captivate an audience.

Participants will gain the skills, support and self-confidence to develop and deliver an actual group community project, alongside a project mentor.

Students based in Adelaide and North Adelaide are eligible to register for the 15 positions available.

Participants will work with project mentors to develop one of 3 community projects during the leadership program. In 2014 the projects have as their focus;

  • Sustainability
  • Improving your local Place
  • Community public art

The 14 week course runs on Tuesday evenings from August-November at the North Adelaide Community Centre. Successful applicants will agree to a commitment which includes attending weekly classes, remaining in the course for the duration, participating in team work and doing occasional work outside of Tuesday evenings.
